Hingham Farmers Market 2016

The Hingham Farmers Market is one of the three oldest farmers’ market in Massachusetts. The market has been running since 1977 by offering local products to market-goers. The market begins in early May and runs through November with over 35 to 40 vendors offering their products weekly.

Some of the most popular products in the market include locally grown produce, meat and poultry, fresh seafood from the region. The market also hosts gardeners who offer plants and cut flowers. Visitors can also enjoy honey, jams and jellies, sauces and many other food products sold by several bakers and vendors. A group of artisans make the market a more lively and happening place.

For many years the market was held at the Station Street parking lot which is also known as the market’s original location. The market was later relocated to the Hingham Bathing Beach on Otis Street when the Greenbush commuter rail line restoration project began in 2003.

In 2012, an active group of volunteers known as the Friends of the Hingham Farmers Market began offering services to market patrons and vendors as well as offering outreach programs in the community. Everyone is welcome to join the group of Friends which consists of residents from all over the South Shore.
